The mission of the IHSA is to provide equestrian competition for all college and university students regardless of riding level, gender, race, sexual orientation or financial status. The IHSA is dedicated to promote sportsmanship, horsemanship and academic excellence. This association has been around for 53 years and currently has 40 Regions in 8 Zones with over 400 member colleges in 45 states and Canada that represents 10,000 members in Hunter Seat and Western disciplines.
The NMSU Equestrian team currently competes in Zone 7 Region 2 within Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
The team is open to all undergraduate students and offers opportunities for all riding levels from beginner to open.
At the beginning of each fall semester the team will hold tryouts. Fall 2022 TBA.
